Innenwald Video Game

The Innenwald Video Game

The Inner Forest Sanctuary Exhibition is now over. On the last day of the exhibition, we held a finissage, in order to celebrate the successful ending of the project.

During this event, my partner surprised me with something incredible: Innenwald – The Video Game!

The Video Game

The game is a virtual journey through the Innenwald, the Inner Forest. It captures an atmosphere that exactly mirrors the Innenwald world I had been living in since last spring. I thought that my partner must have read my mind. He said that he created this virtual world, based on my original concept of the Innenwald and our conversations about art and cosmology.

He was working on the game in secret for a couple of days and revealed it as a surprise during the closing party of the exhibition. During the party, he projected the Innenwald Video Game onto the walls of the gallery with a beamer.

When I saw it, I had to cry. It was so beautiful.

The character you play in the game is supposed to be me. You can travel through a universe-like labyrinth and enter different “Inner Forest Zones” or levels, where different things are happening. It is a very meditative and dream-like experience. Maybe this is what it feels like, to consciously travel through parallel dimensions.

The game is currently still a demo version. We are now brainstorming on how we can expand it together. Hopefully, we can make the Innenwald Video Game available to you by the end of next year (2021).

The Meaning Of Innenwald

Innenwald (Inner Forest) is a combination of the German words Innenwelt (Inner World) and Wald (Forest). I created this word, to describe the concept of bringing the forest indoors. At the same time, it can also mean, to discover a forest – of thoughts, feelings and memories perhaps – inside yourself.
